I came across an article talking about a Chinese billionaire that is selling a line of canned fresh air. This reminds me of the supposedly fantastical plot outlined in the story of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss where one man gets all his wealth from selling canned air because the normal air has gotten so polluted. I thought this was a far-fetched idea that was simply used for illustrative purposes, not something that was actually a reality. Does this strike anyone else as insane?

The product is called “Chen Guangbiao: Nice Guy” and sells for about $0.80. Chen said ”One only has to open the can, directly ‘drink’ it or put the nose close to the can to breath deeply.” His brother points out that he is confident of the success of this product because there are so many in big cities inhaling polluted air, craving for a breath of freshness.

Isn’t this crazy? Can you believe this is actually happening? Our air has gotten so polluted in some parts of the world that someone has decided to make a business out of selling fresh air! This is surely consumerism at its height – selling something that we’re meant to be getting naturally from Mother Nature. Would you ever buy canned air?
