I had left a lucrative job in finance at PwC to and was coming off a string of non-successful business ventures. On top of that, my fiance and I ended our engagement. I was demoralized and depressed and my family was growing increasingly concerned. My dad and his business partner needed some help with improving their accounting systems and processes so they gave me a contract deal. I had never wanted to join the family business before. I was in a totally unique environment now and got to use my skills to be helpful in a meaningful way. I helped create more efficient processes, metric dashboards and systems helped things flow more efficiently. I left that job feeling grateful and re-energized to make a dent in the universe again. The biggest challenge I faced was when my father graciously offered me to join the business on a more permanent basis, and I declined so I could go chase my dreams. That was the longest car ride of my life.
